Positive Execution-

Universal screening, also known as universal mental health screening (UMHS), to battle the violence acted out in our school systems has been taking root for nearly a decade. Other occurrences of violent behavior may result from brief substance related disorders. Screening in schools does have a place of defense in forming new societal standards, even if an opposite risk for screening in schools is that there can be false positives for violent tendency. School screening, if done properly, can also provide an early defense against anxiety and depression helping to combat the occurrence of suicide attempts. Most people would agree that preventing mass shootings from occurring anywhere requires a 360 approach. Mental screening and criminal background screening laws alone are not adequate, we must increase building security! Security structures and systems are the only immediate approach that has a proven track record over time. “Public Security” must become standardized in our school systems and public buildings. If governments are held to the principles of maintaining law and order, public safety must be the highest priority. We have plenty of laws, now we need order and order demands systems. We have reached a point in time where our society requires sophisticated systematic security.

Pick up your pen or laptop and write to your local, state and federal government officials and join with community efforts. We have the power to influence and create better security in all public spaces but we must apply pressure in a lawful manner, where it must be felt the most, the seat of power. Please remember not to underestimate the power of the pen, that alone will push the hand on the seat into faster action than angry rallies which often require another form of governmental interaction. That is to say, public demonstrations can often become an exercise in futility wasting our resources and creating further provocation. Again, immediate measures need to be taken. Security design is the key element to implement in our new building blueprints and in the modifications of existing structures. For some, a sense of losing personal freedom may be felt while within secured spaces so it will take time to adapt. When one thinks of secured spaces, we draw from ancient history, which often illustrates one large main entrance/exit. Our structural engineers are now challenged to resolve all safety code issues while designing or redesigning for the future. This can be done, it is not a insurmountable task but we must expect more from our pillars of society. There exist a violent theme that seemingly has permeated every facet of human culture. Explicit desensitizing visual entertainment must also come under strict scrutiny through the lens of its detrimental psychological consequence.

The pain of yet another series of mass shootings has placed conscientious society at the outermost edge of discovering solutions. Action to resolve must be immediate and provide on-site location security with it. Planning and execution towards a positive sustainable outcome is paramount. Pick up your pen, pick up your phone, write and speak to local, state and federal government representatives and agencies. The peaceful-positive actions of the masses will catapult government into task force movements. No longer can we stand by while the innocent die and suffer. Well structured buildings and security systems will save lives. Perhaps, we cannot cure all mental illness that will exist in society but we can protect our children and all citizens from its outbursts of violence. If your heart is not heavy from the burden of this state of affairs now found in everyday civilian life; then you may have already been desensitized and are in need of emotional healing. Please ask yourself, is this true? Society retreating from society is not a sustainable future, for the masses to home school, work from home, socialize online, life within a digital metaverse, that is not living, it is a non-human existence. We must keep reclaiming our natural environment of human interaction in the physical world but we must rise to the challenge of structuring our world more intelligently. To touch and feel and see using all of our senses in the world, this is our unique experience. We cannot allow the growing threat of aggression to steal our senses or our place in creation.
